Advance Whitening Kit Review

Advance Whitening is a vibrant and compelling teeth whitening kit.

Using whitening pens as the application tool of choice, they separate themselves from the rest of the pack with a very convenient way to whiten your teeth.

A quick note: This isn’t a paid sponsorship. We bought this kit ourselves for the purpose of this review.

Lulu our reviewer

We asked Lulu to use the Advance Whitening Teeth Whitening Kit and see what she thought of it.

Below are her thoughts and impressions on this chic whitening kit.

Lulu’s First Impressions

Andrew: What’d you think of the packaging and the design of the kit when you first got it?

Lulu: Yeah, I thought it was really cool.

Lulu: It looked really good, very fancy. I like the three pens that came with it and the mouthguard. I also thought the box was great, it had a magnetic open and close function, very secure.

Andrew: What did you think of the usability of it when you were applying the gel to your teeth?

Lulu: Yeah, it was easy. You just wind up the pen and paint it onto your teeth, and then you put in the mouth guard and turn on the light for around 10 minutes.

Andrew: Did you find it was hard to activate the pen to dispense the gel?

Lulu: No, because the instructions were easy to follow. It says wind up the pen for up to 20 clicks and wait a bit for the gel to appear on the end of the pen. You can then just click some more when needed.

Andrew: Okay, so that’s pretty easy, nice.

Andrew: Did you have any concerns with using the product at all?

Lulu: Only thing was my mouth was getting a bit sore at the 10-minute mark. I then had to spit it out and put it in for another 10 minutes. By that time, you’re just like, oh it’s a little bit annoying.

Andrew: So timeframe is a slight issue?

Lulu: Yes, oh and I seemed to get a lot of saliva when I used it.

Andrew: Did you have any sensitivity with it?

Lulu: No, which was wonderful!

Andrew: No. Okay. Great.

Andrew: Speaking about the results, what did you think overall? Did you see any whiteness improvement?

Lulu: I did after like a few tries which was great. Happy with how it turned out.

Andrew: As far as the instructions, were they clear?

Lulu: Yeah, they were really clear about what to do. I’ve tried different whitening products before so I was familiar with what to expect but overall it was very easy to understand.

Andrew: The Advance Whitening Kit has a universal, already moulded, mouth tray. How’d you find it? Was that easy?

Lulu: Yeah very easy and simple to use.

Lulu: I think the key is using it consistently, maybe every second night.

Andrew: How’d you find using a whitening pen compared to normal gel syringe? Was there anything that you thought about that? Did you like it?

Lulu: I didn’t mind it as all. It found it actually easier than using syringes.

Andrew: As far as advantages and disadvantages, was there any that really came to mind when you’re using this kit? Advantages and disadvantages?

Lulu: I like the whiteness of my teeth was noticeable and the pen and how it was to use it.  The only disadvantage I could see is the timeframe. But otherwise, everything else was fine.

Andrew: How did you find the LED light?

Lulu: Yeah, it was really bright. It was brighter than an Oral B LED I tried before.

Andrew: Giving it a rating out of 10, so the packaging and design, what would you say?

Lulu: Probably 8/10.

Andrew: For usability, the ease of using it?

Lulu: I would say 8/10 as well.

Andrew: Speaking about price and value, this kit retails at the moment for just under $90, do you think that’s good value for money?

Lulu: Probably not for $90 because my previous Oral B kit was around $40.

Andrew: Did you see much difference in that kit compared to the Advanced Whitening kit?

Lulu: I think they’re pretty similar. They both work and they both make my teeth whiter, it’s just a different way of using both kits, but they both came up pretty similar.

Andrew: Okay so a rating out of 10, how would you rate the advanced whitening kit?

Lulu: I would say 8/10. It’s still good quality, gave me results and was easy to use.

Andrew: Results out of 10, what would you think?

Lulu: 8/10.

Andrew: Well thank you very much for your time, Lulu.

Lulu: No problem.

Packaging and Design

The Advance Whitening kit we purchased was their standard kit but with the bonus Enamel Booster.

It came by express postage and was protected by a separate outer box with some foam pieces, to keep its integrity while in transit.

The whitening kit and the enamel booster came in a cardboard box with foam protection

Protected in transit and delivered without a scratch

I really liked the fact that it was protected while it was shipped to me. Thumbs up to that, and it’s a good point to note.

Product packaging is very eye-catching. The colours they’ve used, the way they’ve designed the packaging is first-rate.

There was also some plastic covering to stop it getting damaged or dusty etc.

Plastic wrapped for protection

Protected by plastic and ready to be opened

The design of the box is sturdy and feels like it will last.

I like the patterns and the design of the kit. It’s probably one of the better ones that I’ve seen, as far as aesthetics is concerned.

A side view of the packaging

Very simple information on the back of the box that goes over some standard information.

Advance also has some cautions noted, they include;

  • Keep out of reach of young children
  • Please seek medical advice before using this product if under the age of 18, pregnant, breastfeeding, having serious gum problems or have recently had any oral operation.
  • Product is not intended for use in children under the age of 12.
  • Do not swallow, avoid contact with the eyes, rinse eyes thoroughly if gel comes into contact with them.
  • Gel that comes into contact with skin can cause temporary irritation.
  • The gel will not whiten caps, crowns, veneers, fillings, or dentures.
  • Advanced whitening products are not be substituted for regular dental care.

The Advance Whitening Kit

Like many other whitening kits on the market, on the upper side of the kit, you have the 3 gel syringes at the top.

Inside the Advance whitening kit

Everything is in its place

What makes this kit different from others I’ve reviewed, is that they use pens instead of syringes.

Those 3 pens are housed securely in a plastic cutout.

Holding a whitening pen

Advance Whitening Pen is see-through which shows you how much gel is left.

The cutout is reasonably well made and has a more of a matte finish compared to some others that have a polished look to them.

The pens fit into the cutout firmly but are not difficult to get out.

Securing the Advance Whitening Pens into place

A secure and safe cutout for the  whitening pens

When everything’s in the kit and you open it up, it will stand open without falling over, which I liked.

The 5 LED light mouthpiece is positioned next to the universal mouth tray.

I found the LED light well made and Lulu thought it a breeze to use.

The mouth tray has already been moulded and is a standard one size fits all.

5 LEDs are used in their LED light

You just clip-on mouth tray to the LED light, similar to the Bondi Smile or the HiSmile Whitening Kits.

Inside, you also have a pleasant looking card that says, “Thank you for purchasing the Advance Whitening Teeth Whitening Kit”.

A universal moulded mouth tray is included

The Enamel Booster Bonus

The Advance Whitening Kit also came with enamel booster that is available for a limited time.

It comes in its own cardboard packaging that’s also very vivid in appearance.

Holding the enamel booster

The bonus enamel booster

I thought those little patterns were a nice touch and aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Lulu didn’t need to use this product as she didn’t experience any sensitivity. However, she like the fact that it was included within the kit.

On the back of the packaging, it mentions the following information:

  • Advanced Whitening enamel booster strengthens the enamel by replenishing key minerals to your teeth.
  • The remineralization process also desensitizes the teeth.
  • For best results apply the enamel booster 48 hours after final teeth whitening treatment.
  • Best to store this in the refrigerator when opened and must be used within 12 months of purchase.
  • Not suitable for pregnant women and or children under the age of 16
  • Ingredients; fluoride, potassium, nitrate, and calcium phosphate

When I open it and took the enamel booster out, it’s very similar to the whitening pen you get in the kit, it’s just got a blue mineralization gel inside.

It looks very modern and sleek, so that’s an added bonus with this kit.

7 Reasons Why to Use Advance Whitening

Advance Whitening has stated on their website that there are 7 benefits or reasons for using this kit over some others on the market.

This includes;

  • Scientifically formulated, dental-grade ingredients
  • Results in 10 minutes
  • Mess-free system with no gel wastage
  • Gel for 30 treatments
  • State of the art LED light
  • 30-day money-back guarantee
  • Manufactured in the USA

The things that jump out at me is that it has a 10-minute timeframe, but can be used for longer.

A good amount of gel included, 30 treatments is decent.

30-day money-back guarantee is great and gives you peace of mind if you feel it’s not for you.

Finally, the product is made in the USA which is reassuring and I like that.

The one thing I will say though, it’s not dental graded. It can’t be because legally, only dentists are able to provide the dental strength whitening gel of over 6%.

Instructions

There are 3 simple steps to follow when using the Advance Whitening Kit.

Step 1 – Applying the Whitening Gel

It’s as simple as twist and go.

The Advance whitening pens are ready and have the whitening formula inside.

Just twist the pen at the bottom until gel appears, then brush evenly onto your teeth.

You may need to twist up to 20 times on the first go as it can take a while for the gel to come through.

The good thing about whitening pens is they eliminate any wastage and mess associated with gel syringes.

Step 2 – Switch on the LED Light

Place the universal mouthguard into your mouth and switch on the LED light.

Lulu found that watching some TV or Netflix is a great way to kill the time whilst you whiten your teeth.

Advance Whitening recommends repeating it daily for 6 days.

Step 3 – Flash your Pearly Whites

After 10 minutes the LED light will automatically turn off, which is a great function.

Next, you rinse out your mouth and let the whitening gel do its magic.

Repeat daily for 5 days to reveal teeth up to 12 shades whiter (stated by Advance Whitening).

8 Detailed Instructions

The kit came with an instruction booklet which provides the user with a more detailed overview of what to do and how to use the kit.

Below are the detailed steps that you need to follow before, during and after use.

1) Sanitize your mouthguard by soaking the guard in boiling water for five minutes, remove and dry

2) Open the LED light battery lid and remove the plastic isolator underneath the batteries

3) Place the guard into the end of the LED light

4) Twist the bottom of the pen about 20 times the first use, until the gel rises to the brush tip

5) Brush the gel directly onto the surface of your teeth

6) Turn the LED light and insert the guard into your mouth

7) Leave for 10 minutes, then rinse with water and repeat process for another 10 minutes

8) Repeat this process every day for 5 days, or until you are happy with the results”.

Advance Whitening Tips

For better results, they say to brush your teeth immediately before applying the gel.

Do not consume dark staining food or drink such as red wine, coffee or tomato sauce for one hour afterwards.

It’s best to whiten your teeth at night, after dinner as it allows the whitening gel to keep working overnight.

Whitening Gel Ingredients

There are 9 ingredients in the Advance Whitening gel.

Advance Whitening mentions that their gel contains “specially formulated ingredients” which include the following:

  • 6% Hydrogen peroxide
  • Glycerol
  • Propylene Glycol
  • Water
  • Ethylene Diamine Tetraacetic Acid
  • Carbomer
  • Carboxymethyl
  • Poly Vinylpyrrolidone
  • Menthol

Price and Value

Currently, this teeth whitening kit is priced at $89.95.

Lulu our reviewer was a little surprised when I told her the price. She thought it was a lot of money and believe there were other kits she tried that represented better value for money.

The Advance Whitening Kit price with the bonus enamel booster – Source Advance Whitening

There are some cheaper, and some more expensive whitening kits out there.

This price point though is roughly what you’d expect to pay when opting for a whitening kit in Australia.

This kit isn’t overpriced, it’s just on the higher end of the scale. The Enamel Booster though was a nice bonus in the kit and adds value.

Overall

The Advance Whitening Kit with Enamel Booster is well made and incorporates a fresh way to whiten your teeth using pens instead of syringes.

Lulu our reviewer thought the product was good quality and easy to use.

Using pens when applying the whitening gel to your teeth really does reduce wastage and potential mess that sometimes happens with regular syringes.

Even though the price was a little high in Lulu’s books, it still represented good value as the Advance Whitening Kit did what it said it would do.

So overall, it’s a teeth whitening kit that looks great and works a treat.

Would you prefer using whitening gel syringes or whitening pens as the applicator?
